Background...
I changed the mix in the next 10 years doing corporate work for the Fortune 500 and keeping my personal work...well...personal. Hopping barges on the Mississippi, hanging out of helicopters over Manhattan, and climbing oil rigs at dawn in East Texas is a hell of a way to make a living, but I was finding that I had the most fun when the subject matter actually talked back. That has been my main deal for a while now.
Celebrities, CEOs, artists, the guy next door; though each takes its own style and approach; the baseline never changes for me. I am engaged in discovering both the visual clues that work for each individual, and finding the psychological chords that work to relax and open up a stranger. It is always interesting.
The sport of it comes when we take the whole thing on location. Preparation; moving through a production; having all the tools and toys available...and always looking for the magic; the serendipitous breeze, a sudden shift in the light; some chance encounter.
Preparation, discovery, surprise; now that's a hell of a way to make a living.
When I'm not doing that; I hang out with my wife Marni, my 4 kids, and Lucy the very little, white dog; renovating my house(my answer to golf), playing my guitar, and, every once in awhile, pulling on my waders and looking for trout
